The Alliance Française of Yangon was established as early as 1961. Previously located on the same site as the diplomatic chancery of the Embassy, it has moved in 1993 to a separate building located 340 Pyay Road. In 2001, it has become a Cultural and Linguistic Cooperation Center (CCCL) and, from the 1st of January 2011, it was renamed Institut Français de Birmanie following the reform of the French cultural network abroad.

The Institut Français enjoys a very unique situation not only in Yangon but also in the whole country. Centre of excellence for the teaching of the French language, the French Institute is also one of the very few cultural centres able to propose a regular and high-standard artistic program, for the sake of cultural diversity. Last but not least, its media library offers a huge variety of documents (books, magazines, CDs, DVDs…) to get some informations about France and its culture, or just to relax in a friendly environment.

Do not wait anymore: join us !
